Path of the Gods
Sentiero degli Dei
The Sentiero degli Dei, a high cliff-top footpath above the Amalfi Coast from Bomerano to Nocelle.
The Path of the Gods runs for roughly seven kilometres along the mountainside between Bomerano, a hamlet of Agerola, and Nocelle above Positano, several hundred metres above the sea. It follows old mule tracks between terraced vineyards, stone farmhouses and holm-oak woods, with almost continuous views over the Li Galli islets and, on clear days, Capri. The walk takes three to four hours in the downhill direction and needs proper footwear and water; there is no shade on much of the route. Local buses serve both ends, and a long stairway drops from Nocelle to Positano.
Starting point: Piazza Paolo Capasso, Bomerano (Agerola). Typical endpoint: Nocelle (Positano). Difficulty: medium. Suggested duration: approximately three hours, depending on route and ability. This is a free public walking trail and booking is not normally required to walk independently.
Safety: the route includes uneven and rocky ground, and some exposed sections do not have protective railings. Suitable walking or hiking footwear is required and you should carry sufficient drinking water. Walking experience and reasonable fitness are recommended. Do not attempt the route in unsafe weather, including heavy rain, strong wind, thunderstorms, fog or snow. Check official Comune notices for temporary closures or diversions before travelling.
